Matt Ferrante 🎷 Saxophonist | Freelance Musician | Music Technology Educator 🎵
Matt Ferrante is a highly sought after freelance saxophonist in the tri-state area. His group Modern Times was voted Best Jazz Band by In Pittsburgh Magazine and Matt was named “top five horn players” for five consecutive years. He wrote the music and produced their CD, The Persistence of Melody on Corona records.
In the studio, Matt has been featured on over 20 CDs and 30 commercials. He is a founding member of the Balcony Big Band and can be heard on their releases: Seasoned To Taste & Last Call At The Balcony.
Matt has performed with many groups in the area including John Gresh’s Gris-Gris, The Bachelor Boys, The Colbys, The Jimmy Adler Band, JG Bocella, Told Ya So, The Honeyriders, Doug Khorey, and Billy Price. He was fortunate enough to work with / open for Pat Metheny, Natalie Cole, Joshua Redman, The Temptations, and Dionne Warwick.
As an educator, Matt holds a Masters in Music Education from Duquesne University. He also studied music technology at Berklee Online. He was the Head of Performing Arts Department at The Ellis School in Shadyside and now teaches Music Technology at Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy in Oakland, PA.
